Atlanta's Historic New Hope A.M.E. Church Launches Major Community Campaign to Preserve 157 Years of Black History and Faith


Historic Buckhead Church Announces Three Signature Community Events Supporting Restoration and Preservation


ATLANTA, GA – One of Atlanta's oldest African American churches is inviting the community to help preserve an irreplaceable piece of the city's history.


Founded in 1869 by formerly enslaved men and women, New Hope A.M.E. Church has served as a beacon of faith, hope, education, and community for more than 157 years. Today, the historic Buckhead congregation is launching "Their Faith. Our Foundation"—a comprehensive preservation campaign designed to restore and protect the church for future generations.


As part of the campaign, New Hope A.M.E. Church will host three major public events that celebrate its remarkable legacy while raising critical funds for restoration efforts.


UPCOMING EVENTS

Homecoming Celebration

Date: Saturday, August 23, 2026

The annual Homecoming Celebration will officially launch the church's new preservation campaign, bringing together members, alumni, community leaders, historians, and supporters to celebrate the enduring legacy of New Hope A.M.E. Church while introducing the vision for its future.


Jazz on the Green

Date: Saturday, September 26, 2026

An unforgettable evening of live jazz, fellowship, food, and community on the historic church grounds. Guests will enjoy outstanding entertainment while supporting preservation efforts for one of Atlanta's most significant historic African American landmarks.


Corporate sponsorship opportunities are available beginning at $2,500, with additional partnership levels available for businesses and community supporters.


Dust to Destiny Documentary Screening & Fundraising Gala

Date: Saturday, October 24, 2026

The campaign culminates with the premiere screening of "Dust to Destiny," an inspiring documentary highlighting the extraordinary history, resilience, and spiritual legacy of New Hope A.M.E. Church.


The evening will include:

  • VIP Reception
  • Documentary Premiere
  • Silent Auction
  • Fundraising Gala
  • Community Celebration

Tickets begin at $250, with VIP experiences and corporate sponsorship opportunities available.
